چکیده

The region of SGR 1806-20 localization was observed during its gamma-ray activity in 2001. The observations have been performed on the 6-meter telescope of the Special Astrophysical Observatory, using the Panoramic Photometer-Polarimeter (PPP). The search for variability was performed on the 10 10 s time scale, and its results were compared to the properties of corresponding x-ray flares.

Rapid Optical Followup Observations of SGR Events with ROTSE - I

In order to observe nearly simultaneous emission from Gamma-ray Bursts (GRBs), the Robotic Optical Transient Search Experiment (ROTSE) receives triggers via the GRB Coordinates Network (GCN). Since beginning operations in March, 1998, ROTSE has also taken useful data for 10 SGR events: 8 from SGR 1900+14 and 2 from SGR 1806-20. We have searched for new or variable sources in the error regions o...

Lognormal Properties of SGR 1806-20 and Implications for Other SGR Sources

The time interval between successive bursts from SGR 1806-20 and the intensity of these bursts are both consistent with lognormal distributions. Monte Carlo simulations of lognormal burst models with a range of distribution parameters have been investigated. The main conclusions are that while most sources like SGR 1806-20 should be detected in a time interval of 25 years, sources with means ab...

Precise Localization of the Soft Gamma Repeater SGR 1627−41 and the Anomalous X-ray Pulsar AXP 1E1841−045 with Chandra

We present precise localizations of AXP 1E1841−045 and SGR 1627−41 with Chandra. We obtained new infrared observations of SGR 1627−41 and reanalyzed archival observations of AXP 1E1841−045 in order to refine their positions and search for infrared counterparts. A faint source is detected inside the error circle of AXP 1E1841−045. In the case of SGR 1627−41, several sources are located within th...

The Connection between W 31 , SGR 1806 - 20 , & LBV 1806 - 20 : Distance , Extinction , and Structure

We present new millimeter and infrared spectroscopic observations towards the radio nebula G10.0−0.3, which is powered by the wind of the Luminous Blue Variable star LBV 1806−20 also closely associated with the soft gamma-ray repeater SGR 1806−20, and believed to be located in the giant Galactic H ii complex W31. Based on observations of CO emission lines and NH3 absorption features from molecu...

SGR 1806-20 Is a Set of Independent Relaxation Systems

The Soft Gamma Repeater 1806-20 produced patterns of bursts during its 1983 outburst that indicate multiple independent energy accumulation sites, each driven by a continuous power source, with sudden, incomplete releases of the accumulated energy. The strengths of the power sources and their durations of activity vary over several orders of magnitude. Subject headings: gamma-rays:bursts — star...
